The Sharp couple are responsible for setting many pistol club newcomers on the right path during a compulsory introductory six-month tutorial course. She points out she would never have achieved to the extent she has without the backing of her husband Errol, another pistol club celebrity who has represented New Zealand at International Practical Shooting Confederation World Championship fixtures in Adelaide, Brazil and South Africa. Her service over the past 12 years as secretary of the Invercargill Pistol Club and her work on the committee for 21 years underline her vast voluntary contribution to the sport, not to mention her two years on the national council of Pistol New Zealand. Her raft of distinctions includes twice being selected for New Zealand teams to compete at World Championships in South Africa and Brazil, where she was the sole Kiwi woman selected. Remarkably, she won her first national open ladies' title in 1997 and was a non-competitor on two subsequent occasions, but has reigned supreme 16 other times.
